Not Just Denim: How to wear the colour blue
updated the 9 May 2016 à 14:42From how to match a dark blue dress to when you should be sporting your bright blue accessories, we’ve got you covered.
With the turn of the season, summer colours are sure to flood boutiques and shopping malls everywhere we go. Usually, we think of bright, vibrant shades like sunflower yellow and daisy orange. But don’t forget the occasional blue that, when coordinated appropriately, is sure to make heads turn. We understand that it may not be the easiest colour to play around with, but fret not, we’re here to help!
Know your colour wheel
Blue is a cool colour, so you’ll be safe when pairing it with its fellow cool colours if you’re looking to mix them colours up, especially when choosing accessories. If you’re not bold enough to mix blue and green together, why not try combining different tints and shades of blue?
Stay safe with neutral colours
It’s hard to go wrong when pairing blue with a neutral colour. For example, tints go well with white, while shades are matched with black most of the time. However, make sure the colours aren’t too close to each other, like navy blue and black. Neutrals are worn with the purpose of enhancing the colours that you adorn, so keep this in mind when coordinating outfits.
Glam it up
If you’re headed for a glamorous night out, or just intending to wow onlookers with your getup, blue goes amazingly well with gold. Along with your blue outfit, powder on some gold shimmer, cover yourself up with a gold shawl and slip on some glittery, gold heels. Surprisingly, a blue and pink partnership has also been very popular in recent fashion trends, and would act as a great combination if you’re looking for a bold, casual style instead.
