Chart the progress of lace as it continually graces countless of runways with its undisputed elegance, ever since SS14.

Known for its daintiness, demure demeanour and dark allure, lace has evolved from being merely confined in the garment realm of lingerie to seamlessly making its way into the daily wardrobe of many woman – the sophisticated lady might even admit to it being a day-to-day wardrobe requirement.

Lace has been relentlessly dominating runways for at least three seasons in a row, and each resurgence is admittedly bigger and better than before. From Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana and Naeem Khan’s fervent dedication to the use of this fabric, we only have the creative minds behind those labels to thank for more possible ways of donning this symbol of feminism.

Austere white lace exudes an ethereal grace like no other, while pastel lace effortlessly brings the sweetness level up a few notches. Opt for more alluring shades such as teal, oxblood or sapphire for a heightened romanticism in your ensemble. Going full noir with lace and complementing it with a dark red lip will instead invoke a dark sensuality, and if goth is not your end goal, then bear in mind to go easy on the eyes.

Lace up girls, this is the fabric of 2015.
