TWG Tea’s tea-infused King’s Cake comes with more surprises than you think

From now until 22 January, indulge in a cake like no other.

Associated with the festival of Epiphany, which marks the end of the Christmas season, the King’s Cake (or Galette des Rois) is a popular sweet treat traditionally enjoyed by many countries including France, Belgium and Switzerland. Sold in bakeries during the month of January to welcome the new year, a typical King’s Cake can come in many forms. Here in Singapore, luxury tea brand TWG Tea has introduced their own beautifully flaky version of the cake, infused with tea for a signature touch.

The dessert features a lovely outer shell of flaky puff pastry, filled with flavourful layers of frangipane, a sweet and dense almond cream which is delicately infused with TWG Tea’s special blend of Vanilla Bourbon Tea. Traditionally, a little trinket or figurine is concealed within the cake, and whomever finds it in their slice becomes “king” for a day. TWG Tea keeps this tradition by including a whole almond in the cake as a token. The cake also comes with a golden paper crown, so you’ll be able to crown the lucky receiver.

Yet another hidden surprise?

For those who enjoy even more surprises, prepare to expect the unexpected. Included in a select number of TWG Tea’s Tea-infused King’s Cakes is a special Golden Ticket, which customers might chance upon at the bottom of their cake. This entitles them to a complimentary TWG Tea Haute Couture Tea Tin (valued at SGD40) that can be redeemed at select TWG Tea Salons & Boutiques in Singapore.

Try your luck!

The Tea-infused King’s Cake retails at SGD55 (serves 6) and is available at all TWG Tea Salon and Boutiques from now until 22 January 2017, with the exception of the boutiques in Changi Airport and Takashimaya Department Store, Basement 2 Food Hall.
