Singapore is a place where finding great food is never an issue. Needless to say, afternoon and high tea places are equally sought after. Here are some option on our must-try list.

Afternoon tea and high tea need not necessarily be an English-only affair – after all, tea is found in so many parts of the world. Living in a country with so many cultural influences, especially, one can only expect there to be a variety of things to encompass the definition of a ‘good tea’ place here. In other words, we love places that incorporate the typical English affair with uniquely Singaporean infusions.

Although we know that afternoon tea and high tea isn’t exactly the same thing – the former consisting of tiny sweet treats had in the mid-afternoon and the latter, a late afternoon affair, from about 3pm to 5pm and is generally made up of heavier savoury dishes – we have put them both together, since both involve the key ingredient – tea!

We scoured the little island for some places that both satiated our ever-hungry stomachs and our craving for a generous variety, without blowing up our bank accounts at the end of it – hotels and non-hotels alike. Despite the notion that teas are an expensive affair, we’ve managed to suss out the ones that have options aplenty, within reasonable prices.

Here are our five top picks to get you started!
