Rumours Bar & Grill
Rumours might be going around that this one comes from a posh corner of Downtown Manhattan. But here’s the surprise: Rumours Bar & Grill actually originated in the breezy, touristy town of Seminyak, Bali. They are an award-winning restaurant-slash-bar that caters mostly to carnivores (no offence, vegetarians and vegans) even though they still use vegetables as sides. One of their chef-recommended dishes include the enormous 1.2kg Fiorentina bistecca with roasted vegetables and potatoes.

The Brightside
The Brightside’s concept is pretty simple: they are all about food and fun. Enjoy a range of snacks such as Fried Chicken Skin, Crispy Fish Skin and Vegetarian Spring Rolls, as well as meals like Fish & Fries and Beef Noodle Soup while indulging in a game of Jenga with your friends. You can even choose to have Asian tacos here. As for beverages, The Brightside takes pride in their beer choices but also offer cocktails at just S$15 nett each (and S$12 nett during happy hour). The Social Space
These guys are seriously committed to their food, as much as they are to nature. Apart from their Tea Bar & Café which serves fresh, often vegetarian and even vegan-friendly food, they even have their own nail salon and a section for fair-trade retail. How cool is that! Some of their signature dishes are the Earthy Roasted Mushrooms on Toast, Smoothie Bowls, Peanut Butter and Bananas on Toast. The Social Space also promises some good masala chai with fresh milk!

Monnani Kwabaeggi
Did you know that there is something called Korean ugly pretzel? That’s exactly what Monnani Kwabaeggi means. The founder who came across these unique pretzels in Seoul decided to bring it into Singapore for us locals – yay! Even though they are called ugly, they’re believed to taste great albeit a little ‘unique’. Head on over to Raffles Quay where you will find this outlet selling ugly pretzels in five different flavours – original, Korean Red Bean, Yuzu, Premium Cheese and Premium Sausage. The costliest of them all is the Premium Sausage flavour at only S$3!

Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendul
We’ve got a great news for you: The famous Penang-style chendol is now available in Singapore, so you no longer have to travel 600 kilometres just to satisfy your cravings – though the little Malaysian island is still a must-visit! Located conveniently in Yishun, this outlet does not only offer its signature chendol, but also other delicacies like Penang Curry Mee, Assam Laksa, Penang Fruit Rojak and Pandan Nasi Lemak Chicken Kunyit. The prices are also surprisingly reasonable for a restaurant with authentic cuisine.

Martin Zwerts
Lovers of everything potato, rejoice! There’s a new frites outlet called Martin Zwerts in our very own Singapore. Hailing from the Netherlands where the business first started about 70 years ago, they are finally branching out – that too to Singapore! Martin Zwerts’ fries have also been recognised as the best in their country for eight consecutive years. These master fries makers are even catering to our local nasi lemak and prata-addicted tastebuds by serving rendang as one of their many sauces. What’s not to love about them?

Baan Ying
The first thing you would notice about this restaurant is how visually-appealing it is! Built to accommodate 126 diners at a single time, Baan Ying is huge, spacious and well-lit with ample sunlight to give you a comfortable experience. Reviews also show that their food is as good as their design. Be sure to try out their popular choices: Omelette Rice, Deep Fried Sea with Sweet and Sour Sauce, Green Chili Fried Rice and Spicy Clams Stir just to name a few.

New Ubin Seafood CHIJMES
New Ubin Seafood has a new branch at a more convenient location and it looks way prettier too. A mere 3-minute walk from City Hall MRT will take you to this restaurant, where you will be served scrumptious meat and noodles apart from their usual zhi char dishes. Some of their meat dishes include St Louis Grilled Pork Ribs and U.S. Angus Rib-eye Steak, all at an affordable price.
