VLV Restaurant reveals 3 indulgent lunch sets for an afternoon retreat

Get ready to relish in delectable delights and nurse your food coma right after.

Sometimes we need a sanctuary from work, or a quick getaway from the toils of life. Some of us prefer the simple elegance of a restaurant, or a more laidback setting dining at a lounge. Maybe you’d prefer an al fresco area for a breath of fresh air or to enjoy the balmy riverside breeze. Whatever your idea of an afternoon haven is, VLV Singapore has got it covered. Nestled in the heart of Clarke Quay, the all-in-one lifestyle destination encompasses an eclectic range of concepts, with a restaurant, courtyard, club lounge and riverside dining within the premises.

Traditional Chinese dishes will always be classic favourites, but renowned Executive Head Chef Martin Foo produces exquisite creations by coalescing Cantonese flavours with modern techniques. VLV Restaurant has recently released three brand new Lunch Sets filled with Martin Foo’s sumptuous works of art, guaranteed to please any visual hungry foodie or just your average ravenous soul. Definitely not your usual Chinese meal, each dish looks more aesthetically pleasing and tantalising than the last. For a touch of class without breaking the bank, here’s a look at VLV Restaurant’s new Lunch Sets.

‘Creations’ Lunch Set

For those who prefer lighter nourishment during lunch time, the ‘Creations’ Lunch Set presents some of Chef Martin’s most ingenious dishes, starting with a trilogy of the Chef’s signature traditional Dim Sum dishes with a twist – Prawn Dumplings, Fish and Mushroom dumplings and VLV’s speciality, Singapore Chilli Crab Bun (pictured above). We loved the innovative take on one of the most popular and ubiquitous dishes of Singaporean cuisine, chilli crab. The chilli crab filling isn’t too spicy, and when savoured with the uniquely shaped bun, the flavours balance out perfectly without leaving you too full. In homey, traditional Chinese style, you’ll also be served a cleansing, savoury Chrysanthemum Tofu Soup prepared with bamboo fungus and aromatic Matsutake mushrooms, amongst other dishes. The ‘Creations’ Lunch Set is priced at $48++ per person (minimum 2 persons).

‘Tasting’ Lunch Set

If you’ve got the stomach for a generous tasting of more flavours, you can opt for the ‘Tasting’ Lunch Set, which offers a wider selection of dishes. As with Cantonese cuisine, you’ll be served Dim Sum dishes first, which includes Prawn Dumplings and Pan-fried Carrot Cake (pictured above). These traditional dishes seem no different from those in Dim Sum restaurants, but the fluffy and light texture of the carrot cake will leave you swooning for more, a perfect starting appetiser. This is followed by an invigorating serving of Nutritious Herbal Soup, where the hearty essence of sea prawns will leave you feeling refreshed and filled.

Have a taste of the set’s Crispy Roasted Chicken (pictured above), where the crunchy sesame skin perfectly complements the soft, chewy chicken meat. Dip the chicken into the savoury green sauce created from garden herbs for an explosion of flavours in your mouth you’ll never be able to forget. The ‘Tasting’ Lunch Set is priced at $98++ for 4 persons (maximum of 2 sets per group).

‘Signatures’ Lunch Set

For an indulgent feast to trump all others, relish some of Chef Martin’s signature masterpieces at VLV. For resplendent flavour, satiate your hunger first with a serving of crispy, succulent Calamari Rings (pictured above) to awaken your appetite. Not exactly traditional or Chinese, but we absolutely adore how perfectly fresh and soft the squid within was, in juxtaposition to its flavourful, crispy exterior. We also loved the Claypot Prawns cooked with ginger, scallion and dried Chilli, where the vermicelli hidden at the bottom of the pot definitely got us going for second servings. Tangy, savoury, and with just a touch of spicy, it is just the perfect dish to pamper yourself with. The ‘Signatures’ Lunch Set is priced at $138++ for 4 persons (maximum 2 sets per group).

With an eclectic variety of dishes to choose from, from traditional Cantonese bites to delectable fusion ones, it’s not hard to see why these sets would be such a hit with both young and old. Indulge in sumptuous delights in this impossibly luxurious establishment – this is just the lunchtime getaway you need.

The three new lunch sets are now available at VLV on weekdays from 12 to 3pm.
