We stopped smoking thanks to it, but now it’s time to give up the e-cigarette too. Without any pressure or stress, here’re how to do it in six steps.

Our main goal was to stop smoking but we never really considered what would happen if we picked up the e-cigarette. Ideally, we figured it would be fine to stick to this addictive alternative to the cigarette, however, that may not be the best idea after all. It may seem as though the e-cigarette is infinitely less toxic than tobacco but there are still concerns as to whether it’s completely harmless. And specialists advise against using them beyond 6 to 12 months. Moreover, studies conducted on the effects of e-cigarettes will not yield any results for several years. In the meantime, rumors of toxicity continue to circulate on the web. Most of these discuss domestic accidents caused by the ingestion of e-liquid, but no doubt the tobacco industry will strongly counter-attack these claims. So, rather than becoming involved in this polemic and risk taking up smoking again, it’s definitely better to stop it altogether.

QUITTING SMOKING MAKES YOU HAPPY

A recent study published in the British Medical Journal, analyzing 26 publications on smoking, highlights that people who manage to quit smoking (either regular or e-cigarettes) are less depressed, anxious, stressed and hold a more positive view of life than those who started smoking again. This effect tends to last about six months. Thus, giving up nicotine may be as effective as taking anti-depressants in people suffering from anxiety or mood disorders. So, no more excuses – quit smoking!
