Can laughing make you look better?

Not only is laughing good for our health (including mental), but it also allows our cells to be well oxygenated.

“Practise laughing as often as possible, the results will be soon visible”, assures Martine Medjber-Leignel, psychotherapist. A gain of positivity makes you look younger and rejuvenates your posture. A good giggle favours the oxygenation of cells. By stimulating the diaphragm, it increases the quantity of inhaled air. The inspiration is greater and deeper. Lungs, in overpressure, are then emptied at the speed of 110kph, which is three times faster than usual. This is great for removing toxins hidden at the bottom of the alveolus. In the long run, the complexion becomes clearer and brighter.

Laughing is also a real physical exercise that involves dozens muscles: the famous zygomatic but also the muscles of the forehead, temples, lips, jaws, eyelids, larynx, as well as the abdominal muscles. The shock wave often spreads up to the arms and down to the legs, which move in rhythm. Like a sportsman in full flight, the cheerful person even sometimes perspires. According to Professor Rubinstein, a good laugh burns in one minute as many calories as one quarter of an hour of fast walking. This is not insignificant!
