It is hard to believe but numerous studies all over around the world have come to the same conclusion: not only is laughter good for our mood, but it also has many benefits for our health. From improving digestion, cardiovascular protection, strengthening the immune system, and acting as a painkiller, laughing every day could keep diseases at bay and even some of them. Most importantly, it alleviates our worst enemy, stress!

LAUGHTER DIRECTLY FIGHT STRESS

According to the Center of Complementary Medicine at the University of California, the greater the levels of cortisol, the more likely that stress hormones will decrease. At the same time, the brain produces large amounts of endorphins, the hormone for serenity. With MRI, other research has been able to prove that the vision of funny pictures activates reward centers – brain areas involved in the release of dopamine. Which is great news because this neurotransmitter is essential to the feeling of joy and contentment. According to the neurologist, Henri Rubinstein, author of Psychosomatic laughter (ed. Robert Laffont), one minute of fun is equal to forty five minutes of relaxation.
