The holiday season is over. You feasted well, and now, standing on the weighing machine you see the terrible verdict. Here is our advice for quickly forgetting those extra few kilos.

ADVICE #1: STOP RUMINATING

The kilos are there and you can’t think about anything else. You feel guilty about all the good things you ate that you should have been able to resist. Instead of concentrating on the bad (“I should never have taken two slices of Christmas cake”, “I can no longer fasten my jeans”, “I look very fat”), think positive! Christmas and the New Year holidays only come around once a year and is a time for indulgence – you were right to take advantage of it. Feeling guilty and judging yourself harshly won’t help you to stay motivated and keep your good resolutions. From now on, concentrate on the positive, be proud of the efforts you make and challenge yourself – for example, increase the number of steps you take each day.

ADVICE #2: DO 7 MORE MINUTES OF exercise EVERY DAY

The first good resolution is to do 7 minutes of exercise every morning. Generally, once you begin, you will not stop at 7 minutes, the most difficult time is at the beginning. If you absolutely cannot slot in exercise in the morning, try to do these 7 minutes somewhere else during the day. We recommend downloading the superb mobile app, Seven, which is available on Apple and Android. The app provides a range of exercises to complete in 7 minutes for a healthy start to the day.

ADVICE #3: GO AHEAD WITH THE DETOX

This is the best way to say goodbye to toxins that have accumulated during the holiday season. Over 3 days, consume fruits and vegetables as much as possible throughout the day. When you wake up, opt for lemon juice diluted in some tepid water. Rich in antioxidants, fruits and vegetables, raw, cooked or mixed, will help you start the New Year in a healthy fashion.

So long you hefty pounds!
