If eating clean is one of your resolutions for 2016, then you might want to pick up these reads on your next visit to the bookstore.

As we look forward to all the celebrations the festive season has to offer, we are bound to indulge in some sinful food treats. If you are one looking to start on a clean slate after the feasting, chances are you’ll require a guide. When it comes to your health, there are many mediums to obtain information from. Many a times, multiple sources could result in conflicting information to arise. Is there a particular diet for all? Should I cut off carbohydrates? What foods to avoid and not avoid?

In our opinion, nutrition books are a great way to start. They help to give you a jump start in how you should feed your body and how it will respond to the decisions you make for it. This festive season, you can still make informed decisions while indulging in a few treats here and there. But before you do, here’s how you can fend off excessive festive weight gain.

TIP #1: EAT WHAT’S BEST FOR YOU FIRST

To avoid eating too much during the main course, moderate your intake by eating the best-for-you offerings first. This would include starters such as cold salads and hot soups.

TIP #2: POP A SUGAR-FREE MINT

When you feel that you’ve had enough and don’t want to eat more, cleanse your palate with a sugar-free mint. Research has shown that this helps to curb your cravings. Another doughnut? Let’s save that for the next party.

TIP #3: MODERATE

The key to ensuring you don’t go off balance this festive season is to moderate. Before allowing yourself to indulge in a splurge, do something healthy. This could include eating a piece of fruit, avoiding cream in your coffee or even walking around for 5 minutes (if you are at a party, this is a great tip to try out as you move around the room socializing).

Head over to the gallery up top for a round up of 5 raved about nutrition books. We would recommend making small changes as these books would suggest to let your body get accustomed to the changes.
