“The Evening Cigarette”: A web series to stop smoking

updated the 14 July 2015 à 18:32

You never know, maybe by watching this dark-humour web series, you will bid your last farewell to that cigarette pack of yours…

It’s the same story every year: in December you muster up the courage to stop smoking by January, but come new year you are still puffing away. It’s 2015 and it’s time for a new story: quitting smoking for good.

Feel free to try patches, hypnosis, acupuncture… but make sure you watch this entertaining web series “The Evening Cigarette”.

The Evening Cigarette, four episodes and counting

“This series came to life two years after I stopped smoking,” said creator Matthieu van Eeckhout on the producer site, France 4. “As a former heavy smoker, I had to make a homage to my good old friend, the evening cigarette. It was a time where everything was calm and serene; when the work phones had stopped ringing, the children had gone to bed, the dishes washed… It’s the quietest cigarette break of the day yet no less dangerous than a normal cigarette. The idea is to paint a series illustrating ordinary moments that start off as mundane and progressed into an absurdity. It’s absurd but with a dark sense of humour.”

With titles like “Ashes to Ashes” and “Smoke in the City”, every ridiculous yet entertaining video ends with a moral that discourages you from smoking. Even if these don’t work, they will bring a smile to your face.
