Le Fantôme de Canterville (The Canterville Ghost) (2016)
When: Tuesday, 10 March; 8pm
Where: Alliance Française Theatre, Level I, 1 Sarkies Road
Why: With this comedy-fantasy drama you will certainly feel the warmth envelop you. It features a brazen and brilliant 18th-century noblewoman and feminist ahead of her time, whose soul is damned to earth and has been haunting her isolated old castle in the countryside in Brittany. She has been scaring away any new-comers for hundreds of years but when the Otis family moves in from Paris, she fails in doing her duty - for the first time. Watch how Virginia, the 16 year-old teen in the family, manages to help her break the spell.

Mustang (2015)
When: Saturday, 12 March; 7pm
Where: Alliance Française Theatre, Level I, 1 Sarkies Road
Why: In a village in northern Turkey, there lived Lale and her four sisters. The immorality of their play with innocent boys sets off a scandal with unexpected consequences. The family home is transformed into a prison where their freedom gets robbed - instruction in homemaking replaces school and marriages start being arranged. Watch on to find out how the free-spirited sisters get around these constraints.

Where: Alliance Française Theatre, Level I, 1 Sarkies Road
Why: Bring your kids out for this family-friendly movie where you can expect some heroic actions. When all the animals in the Arctic suddenly disappear, young Markussi realizes that drastic measures are required. Defying the clan, Markussi sets out with his friends in search of the legendary promised land of Sarila. Pursued by jealous shaman and confronted with many dangers, the young Inuit and his friends must restore the natural balance of the environment to save his people from famine and danger.

Where: Alliance Française Theatre, Level I, 1 Sarkies Road
Why: If you're looking for some romance, this one's it. Sami, a laid-back songwriter, is shocked when her four-year running girlfriend, Julia decides to put their relationship to a pause. Coached by an old friend, an alcoholic country musician living in a nursing home for the elderly, he tries to achieve the impossible to prove that she's the one.

Tokyo Anyway (2013)
When: Wednesday, 16 March; 8pm
Where: Alliance Française Theatre, Level I, 1 Sarkies Road
Why: A story of 4 friends living and working in Brussels, while tackling life at 30 - where building careers and family are indeed, hard.

If you ask us, there’s never not a time to watch French films.

Wondering what you should be looking forward to now that festive February is almost over? The answer: Celebrate diversity with Francophonie Festival 2016. It not only celebrates French as a language, but as a spirit.

While Francophonie Day takes place on 19 March in the form of marketplace booths from participating Francophonie countries (with food and games), a whole host of events will take place from 10-19 March across the island, from Serangoon to Sentosa.

What you should not be missing out though, are the slew of movie screenings that remind you of the romantic French air! Catch world-premiere Yann Samuell’s Le Fantôme de Cantervilleas as Francophonie 2016’s curtain-raiser and of course, don’t miss out on their opening night with Oscar-and-César nominee Mustang.
