The beauty world was amazed when BB creams came out, now we have CC, DD and soon EE. Here’s what you need to know of all the letter creams!

When the BB (Beauty Balm) cream came out, all hell broke loose in the beauty industry. After the BB reigned supreme in everyone’s beauty cabinet, the game was on to find the next cult product. Then, naming said product became an alphabetical prose that maybe even a linguist would admire the semantic creativity deployed.

Seriously though, who knew we would come to this point where every cream had a matching alphabetical acronym to go by?

In fact, who even knew there was a DD cream and now soon to appear EE cream? We were in the dark too till we saw rumours of EE floating around and did our research to unearth the DD.

So if you are clueless as we were, here’s where we step in to bring you the letter game of creams!

BB (Beauty Balm)

The beauty balm began as a light to medium coverage foundation with added benefits of SPF protection, skin lightening and anti-aging.

CC (Colour Corrector)

The colour corrector is similar to the BB cream but this is more attuned to providing coverage and helps to even out skin tone. Think of it as a BB with the added benefits of a concealer/ corrector.

DD (Daily Defence)

Now, this cream is a marriage of the first two creams with pore refinement properties. So essentially, this is the best of both worlds – the BB & the CC.

EE (Extra Exfoliation)

Here’s where the creams start serving a different purpose; where skincare needs trump makeup.

Previse Skincare will be launching the first of EE Creams come March. The botanical based mousse contains ‘EE Marine Granules’ that will provide extra exfoliation when added to a traditional cleanser.

Essentially, the EE cream aims to become a travel-friendly product capable enough to compete with other handheld cleansing and exfoliating gadgets, like the coveted Clarisonic.

So will the EE cream attain cult status and join beauty arsenals of every beauty addict? Well, honestly we think it would be hard to throw Clarisonic off the pedestal but in beauty, all is fair, and we can only wait till March rolls around!
