From golden deserts to architecture marvels, aquatic wonders and the world’s tallest building – here are some highlights not to miss in this Middle Eastern city.

It’s phenomenal how Dubai has transformed from a speck on the World Atlas to a world-class city. What used to be an empty desert is now a promising city of ambition, with looming skyscrapers, man-made islands and even more on-going developments. On its coast lies the world’s most luxurious hotel, Burj Al Arab, while in its city centre stands the world’s tallest building Burj Khalifa. The Middle Eastern city – and one of the UAE’s seven emirates – became so attractive that at one point, its population increased three folds and is now home to over two million residents.

With the expectation that its oil reserves will be drying up some day in the near future, Dubai is constantly investing in its biggest bet for an anticipated post-oil era: tourism. Celebrities are frequently photographed having their vacations in Dubai, most recently Selena Gomez and Kim Kardashian.

Considering there is something new everyday in Dubai, we have picked the top 10 things to do if you find yourself in this flourishing emirate.
