Toul Sleng Genocide Museum, Cambodia
Located in Phnom Penh, this museum was once a high school turned prison under the Khmer Rouge. Up to 20,000 people were imprisoned, tortured and kill from 1975 to 1979. Tourists who visit will be able to view photographs of inmates, skulls and instruments of torture.

Kabayan, Philippines
More than 200 man-made burial caves containing mummified remains can be found in the mountain slopes of Kabayan. It was unwittingly discovered when loggers when industrial activities began in the Philippines.

After discovering the body of a dead girl, the owner of the island, Julian Santana Barrera, started collecting and hanging dolls from trees in attempt to ward of evil. Mr. Barrera died in 2001, but his dolls still remain on the island, ever watchful.

Sedlec Ossuary, Czech Republic
This small chapel contains the remains of around 70,000 people that are fashioned into macabre objects such as bone chandeliers. The bizarrely artistic interiors attract up to 200,000 tourists every year.

Aokigahara Forest, Japan
At the base of Mount Fuji is forest that has long been associated with demons of Japanese mythology. The denseness of the forest makes it eerily quiet. Not to mention, it is the second most popular suicide spot, after San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge. So many people attempt suicide here that there is an annual hunt for bodies undertaken by brave volunteers.

Nicolas Cage once owned this New Orleans building before he lost it due to a foreclosure. Apart from this piece entertaining trivia, the house holds a much more gruesome past. It was the place where socialite and serial killer Marie Delphine LaLaurie cruelly tortured her slaves for her own amusement.

Hashima Island, Japan
You may recognise the island as the villainous lair of Javier Bardem in Skyfall. Off the coast of Nagasaki is the island of Hashima that was used as a coal mining facility till the rise of petroleum in the 1960s. It was also a site of Korean slave labor during World War II. Today, Hashima still stands completely abandoned but as a World Heritage Site tourist can visit.
