Meant to be unique, special, relaxing and definitely romantic, honeymoons are supposed to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience that provide memories meant to remain with you forever.

There’s constantly a new trend to follow every year. For 2016, it seems more couples are opting for further destinations and longer stays. Here we have Mr & Mrs Smith, who went around and did a survey with 500 Singaporeans who have recently been on a honeymoon.

Bringing back five trending long-haul honeymoon destinations from around the world, Mr & Mrs Smith, found out that an overwhelming 73% would go to Japan, 22% percent would head to Argentina, 4% percent would love to explore India, 3% would opt for Sri Lanka and a mere 0.8% would travel to Nicaragua.

With this survey, they also found out interesting things like 15% percent of the couples went on a gap-year honeymoon-styled adventure for more than 14 days. Also, 45% of the couples planned a combo-moon by planning around 3-4 destinations to head to on a single trip whilst 32% went on a beach break, 23% chose a city break, and only 10% chose an activity-fuelled adventure.

A ‘buddymoon’ was also a favourite amongst 20% of couples with them enjoying the idea of travelling with friends to share that post-wedding bliss. Last but not least, around 27% of couples surveyed reported the happy news of conceiving on their honeymoon, 37% of them tried to conceive on their honeymoon and a cheeky group of 34% admitted to pretending to be on a honeymoon to get free stuff.
