Some days you want your makeup to look natural. For beauty newbies and veterans, give our 5 step minimalist approach a try – with just 5 products you’ll achieve a polished look.

A fresh face is always in style but you do not have to go bare-faced to achieve that all the time. We believe a fresh face look requires minimal makeup products but just enough to make you appear polished and ready to go.

In just five steps and with just five simple products, you will be able to enhance your natural beauty to achieve an effortless makeup look.

Step 1: Prep that canvas with moisturizer

It is always important to start with a well moisturized base. This allows any product to glide on smoothly and adds to its staying power on your face. Start off by washing, toning and moisturizing your face with a lightweight product. Don’t forget to include sunscreen into your routine as it will help to protect you from the sun. We recommend choosing a lightweight sunscreen with at least SPF 30.

If you have an oilier skin type, you may want to use a primer for not just oil control but also to retain the longevity of your makeup. Also, your canvas includes your lips so don’t forget to pucker up with a lip balm of your choice.

Step 2: Even out your skin tone with a tinted moisturizer

This step depends on the amount of coverage you require. For a natural and lighter coverage, opt for a tinted moisturizer in place of a foundation. The former will work to correct any discoloration on your face. Should you require a little more coverage after applying a tinted moisturizer,go in with a concealer and pat it on the areas where you need it.

If you have active breakouts, scars or minor zits, fret not! You can still achieve a natural look by mixing your foundation and moisturizer together. This sheers the foundation out a tad bit and you will hardly feel its presence once applied. Say goodbye to a heavy feel with this tip.

Step 3: Add a natural flush with cream blushes or cheek stains.

To enhance your complexion, add the slightest of colour to the apples of your cheeks. You could either use a cream blush or a cheek stain. When using cream products, dot a pea-sized amount onto your cheeks and blend using the warmth of your fingers. If you are not a fan of cream products, opt for a fuss-free cheek stain and apply as you would a cream blush.

We would recommend shimmer-free soft pinks for fairer skin tones, peachy pinks for medium skin tones and brownish pinks for darker skin tones.

Step 4: Curl lashes with voluminous or lengthening mascara

To draw attention to your eyes, curl your lashes with either a voluminous or lengthening mascara of your choice. If black mascara seems a little harsh, opt for a brown mascara instead.

Step 5: Frame face with your favourite brow product

Your eyebrows frame your face and this step should not be left out. Give your eyebrow pencil a break and opt for a brow mascara instead. Brow mascaras are water resistant, long wearing, buildable and above all natural-looking. We love how the fibre gel in these mascaras add volume to our brows.

So there you have it! With 5 products and in just 5 steps, you will be able to achieve a look which is just an ‘enhanced; version of your natural beauty.
