Using a couple of makeup products, we show you how to conceal your unwanted double chin by contouring and highlighting – no surgery needed!

Patrick Lorentz, a senior makeup artist at Estée Lauder is here to teach us how to sculpt and contour to hide the appearance of a double chin.
Contouring is term used to define the act of using deep shades to buff away the appearance of excess or unwanted volume in the face. Ladies, it’s not reserved for Kim Kardashian – once you learn how to do it properly, contouring can become a quick and easy everyday step.

The right tool

The highlighting pen is not to be confused with a concealer. The highlighting pen has an extremely smooth texture and contains no concealing pigments. It is used to wake up dark areas in your face – choose a highlighting pen that is two shades lighter than your natural skin tone.

Good gestures

Draw an ‘E’ starting from above the eyebrow. Move down to the inner corner of the eye and on to your nose and cheekbones. Finish by illuminating your jaws – blend with your finger for a super natural look.

Once you have done this step – we can now move on to concealing that double chin. Like a little black dress slims, shadows reduce unwanted volumes that may make your face appear larger than you would like.

The right tool

A matte bronzing powder – this will ensure the product does not catch the light. Steer clear of bronzers and blushes that contain shimmering particles.

Good gestures

To contour – draw an inverted E with the bronzing products. Start at your temples and work your way down to the cheekbone. To contour this area, suck in your cheeks and fill in the hollows with the product. To finish, go under the jaw and blend – this will give the appearance of a lift.

What about blush?

Complete your look with a beautiful blush. If you have an angular, sharp face – blend your blush in a circular motion. If you have a round face – go back and forth, spreading the product from your cheeks to your temples.

Our tip: Use a small amount of shimmering highlighter on the tops of your cheekbones to bring the look together. Smile, you’re glowing!
