Rana: Trying the NIVEA Mud cleanser, I was pleased with the silky texture it had which covered my face without drying it up like normal mud masks do. After a few seconds, I added water and the product seemed to dissolve the makeup on my face. It was refreshing and light enough to use for those days where I don't have much makeup on. But if you wear heavy eye makeup and mascara, you will need to follow up with a more heavy-duty cleanser for the eyes. All in all, I was happy with the result and the fact it left my skin feeling smooth and clean.

Karen: I tried the Nivea Extra White Makeup Clear 3-in-1 Scrub which works as a makeup remover, cleansing scrub and toner. The texture was creamy, lathered nicely and the exfoliating beads were not too rough on the skin. Nevertheless I have to say my skin felt a tad too dry after washing. In terms of removing makeup, this did do a good job, especially if you're pressed for time and looking to clean your face, remove makeup and tone your skin in one go. It also contains Pearl Whitening complex, which is supposed to whiten skin 10 times more than vitamin C but I guess I'll have to wait a little longer to see noticeable changes.

Cheryl: I tried the cleansing wipes from NIVEA and I loved them! It was very effective at cleaning off all my makeup with just a few swipes. The formula also does not leave my skin feeling dry or sting my eyes when I clean off my eye makeup. The only downside is that it cannot remove waterproof mascara or eyeliners easily. I still have to follow up with an oil-based makeup remover to get all of my eye makeup off. These are great after a late night out when all you want to do is quickly remove your makeup without too much fuss.

Tarandip: I can get quite lazy when it comes to removing makeup, especially after a long day and all I want is sleep. So what I prefer is something that's gentle, easy and effective and pleasantly, this micellar water worked like a charm. All it takes is one cotton pad soaked in the solution to remove makeup on one half of the face. Additionally, it even removes eyeliner and eyeshadow without stinging the eyes - so that's a definite plus in my books.

Tarandip: While my skin is more normal-combination with a shiny T-zone, this foam cleanser nonetheless works well to mattify the sheen and leave me with a smooth and supple complexion - rather than drying out the other areas. Additionally, it foams up fairly well and removes makeup effectively with one rinse. Not for use on the eyes though!

We shall never commit the sin of sleeping with makeup on so we gave the arsenal of 5 makeup removing products a whirl. Here's our verdict.

Going to bed with makeup is quite possibly one of the worst cardinal sins to commit in the beauty realm. Which is why most women would probably hear this sentence ringing in their heads whenever they even fathom of skipping the step, 'you will age faster if you sleep with makeup.' Such horror.

This particular product is quite the multitasking wonder. While it goes on like a mud mask to absorb makeup and unclog pores, with water, it turns into a light, silky cleansing solution and eventually turns into a layer of foam with whitening benefits. All you have to do is keep the mask on for a bit and then add water and massage the product in circular motions. This action will turn it into a foam that removes impurities from deep within the pores. Additionally, the Pearl Whitening complex gives 10 times more whitening efficacy than Vitamin C so this will essentially leave you with a far more radiant complexion.

For those who prefer a foamy texture then this cleanser would be ideal. In particular, this product would suit those who suffer from oily, dull and damaged skin as it removes makeup, brightens and mattifies the skin by regulating sebum levels. Simply apply and massage it in upwards circles while avoiding the eye area - hence not for removing eyeliner or mascara.

The water-based makeup remover is a gentle solution to removing heavy makeup without leaving your skin feeling greasy. How it works is by first attracting and drawing out makeup and sebum with lipophilic ('oil-loving') poles of the micelles, then it cleases and soothes the skin with the micelle's hydrophilic ('water-loving') poles. Additionally, the solution is free of colourants, perfume, alcohol, parabens and silicon. Simply wet a cotton pad with the solution and wipe off makeup.
