Stunning beauty inspiration continues with our round-up of beauty trends from London Fashion Week. All we can say is that it keeps getting better.

Just as we were getting over the amazing beauty trends seen at New York Fashion Week (NYFW), the runways of London have revealed its set of beauty magic. While colour was on the menu during NYFW with cobalt blue liners making a statement, London Fashion Week (LFW) turned to a variety of monochrome and occasional colour popping statement shades. From bold lip shades to the forest green eye makeup , here are the top 5 LFW beauty trends that got us planning our future looks:

STATEMENT LIP SHADES

When it doubt, go for a statement lip shade. Not only does it complete the look but it draws emphasis to your features. The lip shades seen during LFW ranged between brick red to plum red. Skip wearing the stark red shade as it is. Instead amp up the mystery factor with a darker lip shade such as oxblood red. Our trick? Simply line your lips with a darker lip liner and go over with a red lipstick.

HUES OF GREEN ON THE EYES

The eyes were the focus in many shows like Holly Fulton’s and even Toga. What was common between these shows was the choice of colour used. Hues of green such as emerald and forest green were used as an all over lid shade. To add more intensity to the eyes, silver eyeshadow was applied in the inner corners to make the eye look pop even more. We are loving the combination of such eye shadow shades when paired with soft pink lips.

CORAL TINTS

The spring summer season sees a lot of colour done subtle. Nothing too over the top and that was just the trend we noticed on the runways. The colour chosen was coral! To ensure that it was not too overpowering, the colour was dabbed on leaving the models with luscious yet healthy looking lips. To pair this lip trend, use plum or even pink eye shadow shades to compliment the coral and make it stand out.

HIGHLIGHT ONLY TWO FEATURES ON YOUR FACE

When going for a makeup look to emphasize your features, many make the mistake of drawing attention to every single feature on their face. From heavily filled brows to strong eye looks, mascara, highlight, contour…the list goes on. Instead embrace your natural features and draw attention to only two. If you wish to highlight your beautiful almond shaped eyes, mix and match eye shadow shades to make them either appear bigger or slightly smaller with a sultry eye look.

To complete the look, add a complementary lip shade. To find this shade easily, simply look at the colour wheel and choose a matching shade. For example, models from Alexander Lewis’s presentation spotted a metallic eye look with a pop of colour on the lower lash line. The lip shade chosen was a dusty nude brown. This did not take away from the eye look but made it stand out even more.

GLOSSY POUTS

Your matte lip shades might need to be stashed away for a little bit. Glossy pouts are in and we are not referring to nude glosses only. From nude pinks to even violet purple, the glossy lip look is suited for women of any colour. We love glosses these days are more pigmented in terms of colour pay off and do not leave that sticky after feel. When applying gloss, it is essential to moisturize your lips and blot off any excess lip balm. This allows the gloss to adhere to your lips better when applied and slide off as easily.
