For many Singaporeans, the beautiful Stephanie Sun needs no introduction. With a track record for producing the most heart-warming of songs, the 37-year-old has a calming voice made for harmonious music. Also going by the name Sun Yanzi, and known to her fans as 13姐 (“13th sister”), the Singaporean Mandopop queen has been a singer for well over a decade now. Her debut album, Yan Zi (2000), sold over 3.8 million copies Asia-wide, which proved to be an impressive success for a newcomer.

While she sings mostly in Mandarin, Sun has covered songs in Hokkien as well as English. If you find her voice familiar, you might perhaps realise that she sang the official National Day Parade (NDP) theme song for the years 2002 and 2003 – We Will Get There and One United People. She performed both songs live at the 2015 parade and, as expected, blew the supportive crowd away with her strong and uplifting voice. They absolutely adored her!

Give her inspiring and passionate music a listen and you’ll see exactly why her popularity extends to so many countries around Asia. We love her and you should too.
