If there is one thing that remains the same around the globe, that’s the spirit of New Year. Regardless of your race, language or even nationality, the New Year is welcomed by one and all with open arms. It symbolizes the hope for a great year ahead along with the aspirations one might have for a new chapter. What differs though is how the New Year is welcomed – believe it or not, there are many different ways to celebrate New Year’s Eve.

Take Scotland for example. In Scotland, the custom of first-footing is an important part of the celebration. Once the clock strikes midnight, the first foot to cross a threshold after midnight will predict the next year’s fortune.
