Held in Singapore for the first time, the gelato event will host a travelling competition, workshops and free tastings. Here’s what you can look forward to.

When we say Italian, what comes to mind? We’re guessing a polished sense of style, cheese and pasta. Well, there’s another sweet thing the fascinating country is famous for and that’s the absolutely divine gelato. We bet you didn’t know there’s a Gelato Museum in Bologna.

Held for the first time in Asia, the second edition of Gelato World Tour will be kicking off in Singapore this weekend, with 16 gelato chefs competing for the grand World Best Gelato title.

With 6 artisans from Singapore vying for the award, including a Singapore Sling flavour by Charles Tan of FATCAT Ice Cream Bar, workshops, a museum and interactive activities, the Gelato Village is set to be quite the ideal heaven for dessert lovers.

Just remember, don’t make the mistake of asking these artisans for ice cream, it’s gelato. There’s a difference. If you’re not sure about the difference then all the more you should make your way down to learn everything about this dessert from the masters themselves.

So if you had something else planned for the weekend, scrap that and make room for something a little more delectable. Here are 5 things you should not miss at the Asian leg of the Gelato World Tour 2.0.

The Gelato World Tour will be held from 20 – 22 March, 12 – 9pm at Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre Hall D. Entry to the venue is free but a SGD12 ticket will entitle you to 8 tasting portions.
