Sweet, sinful, gooey caramel takes a starring role in these mouth-watering recipes.

Nigella Lawson described caramel as a class A drug of the confectionery world, ticking off the holy trinity of sugar, salt and fat. We couldn’t agree more. A cube of creamy, melt-in-your-mouth caramel or a drizzle of the sugary treat on ice cream is an indulgence most people can’t say no to. This beige to dark brown confectionery product made by heating any of a variety of sugars is the base of some of our favourite desserts – from ice cream to fudge to creme caramel flan.

So for this week, we’ve picked out 5 mouthwatering easy-to-do caramel recipes from our sister foodie site Gourmand Asia. Flip through our gallery and try not to get hungry!
