Inspired by the beauty of Korea’s national dress, the French luxury house sure knows how to create covetable accessories.

In May, Karl Lagerfeld invited guests including Kristen Stewart, Tilda Swinton, Gisele Bündchen, Rinko Kikuchi, G-Dragon and Taeyang, the Korean actresses Park Shin Hye and Choi Siwon to the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) to present the Chanel 2015/ 16 Cruise collection. There he unveiled launched a collection full of vibrance accompanied with a structured and avant-garde silhouette.

The collection featured a beautiful medley of fuchsia pink, intense orange, violet, turquoise and royal blue melted into woven tweeds and textured cotton but also onto lighter fabrics such as shantung – a type of raw silk so dear to Mademoiselle Chanel – linen, organza, tulle and lace. There were geometric patchworks as well as multi-coloured stripes combined with delicate floral and geometric embroidery.

The accessories that accompanied the outfits were whimsical, in shades of light pink, with contrasting orange and blue trimmings, alongside tweed clutches and sequined purses. A few bags were also matched to the prints of the outfits they were paired with, thereby creating a rather complete outfit that’s aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

For the Chanel 2015/ 16 Cruise collection, Karl Lagerfeld reimagined Asian sophistication with a resolutely modern spirit, and we are not disappointed with the result at all. The collection will be available in stores in November but till then we can start creating our lists.
