Caddies, punching bags and even portable studios? Clearly no interpretation of the monogram is impossible.

Timeless and iconic, Louis Vuitton’s monogram has evolved from what was once merely just a signature, to a contemporary symbol of luxury, and a fashion staple that no wardrobe would ever be complete without. As this year marks the 160th anniversary for the house, what better way to commemorate it besides reigning in six design legends to reinterpret the monogram? After months of waiting for this collection to drop ever since the release of the rumour, it’s finally here!

‘Celebrate Monogram’ mirrors the house’s collaboration with Azzedine Alaïa, Manolo Blahnik, Helmut Lang and Vivienne Westwood who, amongst other notable designers, were chosen in 1996 to celebrate the monogram’s centenary. This year, the baton is passed on to six leading iconoclasts of today – Christian Louboutin, Frank Gehry, Karl Lagerfeld, Cindy Sherman, Marc Newson, and Rei Kawakubo. With a line up as star-studded as that, expect no less than the seamless amalgamation of fashion and art, and a revolutionary reimagination of the monogram.

Just a tip, Louboutin’s pieces – complete with his signature scarlet backing – are definitely not to be missed out on. Thanks to Louboutin, trips to the market will never be an embarrassing affair anymore as the ‘Classic Caddy’ has been remade and lugging leek is now made much more glamourous. For the sports enthusiasts, you’ll be happy to hear that Karl Lagerfeld’s contribution certainly did pack a punch, literally. Boxing no longer needs to be a sloppy and messy affair since it is now finally synonymous with luxury.

Another highlight of ‘Celebrate Monogram’ is Rei Kawakubo’s ‘Bag with Holes’ as she did away with pretty and decided to “burn” a hole through the monogram instead – because why not, right? – to reveal the inner lining of the bag. Subtle, but statement-worthy. For those who adore colours, Cindy Sherman’s bags will be an absolute delight on yours eyes given the dramatic badges and vibrant hues inspired by her parrot.

For the bold, feminine or glamourous ladies making a trip to either the gym, market or perhaps a photo expedition, there’s not an occasion or a personality that the 6 iconoclasts left out, leaving you with absolutely no reason not to Celebrate Monogram with LV.

Who doesn’t love a refreshing reinterpretation of classic patterns?

Celebrate Monogram‘ will be available at selected Louis Vuitton stores on October 15, 2014.
