Curious Palette has a new brunch menu that hits all your popular flavour notes

Salted Egg Wings and Soft Shell Crab Burgers? We’re sold.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock or are entirely opposed to the idea of brunch (a concept we find entirely unfathomable), you would’ve probably heard of Curious Palette. Since opening its doors in 2015, this cafe has been a hot brunch spot for ardent, brunch-loving cafe-goers (or ‘cafe hoppers’, as we call them), winning over hearts and rumbling tummies with its scrumptious selection of hearty comfort food. If you’re a fan of the cafe, or simply adore brunch in general, we come bearing good news: co-founder and multiple award-winning coffee master Ryan Kieran Tan has updated the cafe’s menu that now features some of your favourite food trends like the salted egg craze and soft shell crab. Mmmm.

Starters and Light Bites – All Day

How you start your meal can truly make or break your dining experience, which is why we love a good appetizer to set us off. Curious Palette’s updated menu features new all-day appetizers that will no doubt whet your appetite. We absolutely love the Magic Mushrooms (SGD14.90), for one. This dish features succulent white button mushrooms beautifully encrusted with a crunchy layer of breadcrumbs, served over a homemade aioli sauce. Although not quite the island ‘magic mushrooms’ that you might find in pockets of Bali, the dish is gastronomic magic nonetheless, and will certainly have you reaching for seconds. We also love the Salted Egg Wings (SGD12.90), the cafe’s interpretation of a ‘zi char’ favourite. Each golden, crispy wing is deliciously buttered with a sweet yet spicy homemade salted egg yolk sauce that is so sinfully savoury.

If you prefer your appetizers light and healthy however, the new Tofu Salad makes for the perfect pairing to your main dish. Lightly battered tofu is served on a bed of baby spinach and topped off with tempura arugula, orange segments, bonito flakes and white sesame dressing. In fact, we reckon this guilt-free dish is filling enough as a substitute for a light meal!

Brunch (9am to 6pm)

We love brunches that extend till late; after all, isn’t the whole fun of brunch about sleeping in on weekends only to wake up to a fabulous meal? The new brunch menu features dishes like the Crab Cake on English Muffin (SGD19.50), Croque Madame (SGD19.50) and Corned Beef Scotch Egg (SGD18.50). The latter is an old English favourite that consists of a Scotch Egg with a crispy exterior and a satisfyingly runny centre, exquisitely paired with a cauliflower couscous, delicious creamy guacamole, and a green mango salsa on the side. The Crab Cake features a generous serving of juicy crab accompanied by a purple sweet potato mayo slaw, sweet potato fries, and a pan-fried sous vide egg.

If you’re hit with a massive bout of food lust at this point, we won’t blame you. And if you love your brunch fare, the new menu at Curious Palette is definitely worth checking out! The cafe’s chic, spacious and airy interiors make for a great ambience as you wolf down your meal with friends. Also worth mentioning is the specialty coffee you get to enjoy here, made especially fun with the introduction of the new range of Coffee Flights – duo coffee sets specially curated to enhance your coffee experience. Sumptuous food, a great ambience and an exquisite coffee experience to boot? Needless to say, that is a winning combination you definitely can’t go wrong with!

Curious Palette is open from 9am to 10pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays; and 9am to 12am on Fridays and Saturdays. The cafe is closed on Tuesdays.
