Chopsticks to reveal the freshness of your food

Not sure of the origin or the freshness of your food? Well, China’s largest search engine, Baidu has developed chopsticks to analyze the quality of food.

The giant Chinese search engine, Baidu, has recently announced a rather unusual invention to say the least. They came up with digitally-enhanced chopsticks, called Kuaisou, that can detect contaminated oils in food which could potentially cause food poisoning. At this point, it’s worthy to note that in China, food scandals have created a climate of mistrust among consumers and thus this invention becomes fairly useful in that aspect.

Chopsticks that track contamination in food

“In the future you will be able to know the origin of the oil or water in your food, whether it has expired and even see the nutritional value through Kuaisou chopsticks by Baidu” explained the Director-General of the search engine, Robin Li, at a press conference last week.

The chopsticks, connected to a smartphone app will receive relevant information about the food and transfer the data in real time to the phones. These chopsticks will also be able to measure the pH level, temperature and the number of calories in food.
However, for now no price has been announced and the mass production of the chopsticks have not yet been considered.
