Well, good old St Valentine’s day is around the corner once again, and once again you’re alone and dateless.

If you simply cannot bear another year of watching young couples with big bunches of flowers and couple clothing date on Orchard Road, here’s a few more grown up ways you can spend your Valentine’s Day when you’re single in Singapore.

Who says you need a date to be cool on Valentine’s Day? Here are a few things you could do.

Grab the girls and go clubbing

Dance the night away with the slew of parties going on during the Valentine’s Day weekend. Ku De Ta is having a big bash on Feb 13, Expose featuring DJ Moto. DJ Moto has played alongside the biggest stars in music like Rihanna and Snoop Dogg. So gather all the single ladies and put your hands up!

Friday, 13th February; 9pm until late, SGD38 inclusive of a drink.

Go to a singles party

Who says Valentine’s Day parties are only for couples? The Valentine Vendetta party has been running for four consecutive years. You’ll stand a chance to win prizes worth up to SGD10,000 including a 3D2N Stay at the Enigma in Bali by taking part in the games. If a pool party is more your scene, try the exclusive by-invite only Loveyouso’s pool party at SO Sofitel.

Email  [email protected] to get on the pool party guest list.

Another party you could head to if you’re single and ready to mingle is Lucha Loco’s anti-Valentine’s party. From Complimentary tequila shots at the Kissing Booth to Piñatas for ‘aggression-release therapy’ and Tinder match-ups, this is a shindig you wouldn’t want to miss.

While there’s no cover charge, you might want to register your name here to make sure you get in!

Give a puppy love

Who says love only exists between humans? Spend your Valentine’s Day with your furry friend by volunteering at Therapy Dogs Singapore. If your pup and you are amiable, you can help brighten up someone else’s day. It’s as simple as a hug from you and a cuddle from your pet. Therapy Dogs Singapore help a variety of charities ranging from children to the elderly.

Catch a live performance

This Valentine’s Day catch a live performance at the Gardens By The Bay. Singaporean singer, Inch Chua will be performing at the Flower Dome at 3pm and 5pm, and popular young band The Sam Willows will be crooning their tunes at the Supertree Grove at 7pm. The sets last 45 minutes. Admission charges to the cooled conservatories apply.

Improve your cocktail skills

Why not take the day off for a little self-improvement? Impress your friends with your cocktails at your next party. Learn how to make your favourite Cointreau cocktail with the help of our video guide.

Stay home with the girls

Or if you just feel like a little me time, sit at home and binge watch your favourite TV show. Be cynical like Miranda of SATC or sassy and bitter like Max Black of 2 Broke Girls. Perhaps the best world to sink into is the reel one.
