The dewy, wet look
Spring 2017 is all about luminosity and the glow. Think extreme: lip gloss used in place of shimmer or highlight for a "wet" look on the cheekbones and eyes, and copious amounts of gel to lend ultra-luminosity and shine to the skin and hair.
Matte hair has been a runway staple for a few seasons, so this unapologetic dewiness and glow is a welcome change.

Deep, side parts
While it looks like the middle part is still here to stay, the deep side part definitely reigns as one of the major hair trends for Spring 2017, as seen on the Chloe and Salvatore Ferragamo shows during Fashion Week.
Worn slicked to the head or in an effortless tousle to the side, the side part is as versatile as it is flattering.

The blunt cut
If you're considering getting layers, you might want to switch it up. Spring 2017 saw a ceaseless array of cool, same-length blunt haircuts. Whether it be blunt-cut bangs, bobs or lobs, these styles are so simple and minimalistic, yet make such a big statement.

Modern romance
Wispy hair; tousled tendrils skirting coquettishly past the cheekbones; rosy-stained lips and eyes... Spring 2017 definitely had a whiff of romance in the atmosphere.

A pop of spring colour
We saw every imaginable colour on the spectrum this Spring: canary yellow, bright orange, fuschia, you name it. Striking on the eyes and lips, the rest of the skin was kept practically bare.
Celebrated makeup artist Pat McGrath, who was responsible for many of the looks backstage, summed up this spring trend in one word: 'daring'.

Braids
Braids will always be a quintessential spring favourite, but Spring 2017 saw mostly sharp and tight braids. Instead of conjuring to mind breezy summer frocks and loose braids, the tight braids this season call for a leather jacket and lots of edge.
To achieve this look, massage styling cream or gel between your palms prior to braiding to keep the strands tightly together.

The ’80s comeback
Spring 2017 definitely saw a major '80s comeback. While the designers brought back dramatic shoulder pads and assymetrical drape dresses reminiscent of the era, hair and makeup artists brought back the bright blush applied high up on the cheekbones ('draping'), coiffed hair, and dramatic '80s eye looks.

With Paris Fashion Week drawing to a close last week, heralding the end of the Spring 2017 fashion shows, it could not be more timely to celebrate the best beauty trends we saw on the runways across Milan, Paris and New York.

Certain beauty and hair looks still remain a staple: braids (loose or tight) will always be a spring favourite, and the deep side part is definitely the look of the season. But Spring 2017 definitely saw some new trends we have not seen often on the runway – the rebirth of the wild, disco-fever of the ‘80s, for one. Put away your matte beauty products because this Spring is all about the unapologetic shine and glow on the skin and hair.
