Why towel drying your face is aging your skin a lot quicker

Get healthy, glowing skin just by ditching your towel.

It’s common for most people to use a towel to dry their faces after cleansing. However, it might be time for you to switch things up.

Just like the skin around your eyes, the skin on your face is also very delicate. Using a towel will tug at the skin harshly, increasing the likelihood of wrinkles and wear and tear.

Plus, the towel you’ve been hanging in your toilet has been harbouring bacteria and germs and not to mention, causing blemishes and acne issues – precisely why you should skip using a towel altogether.

Even if you have the habit of changing fresh towels, ditching it is a better way to keep your skin hydrated. When your skin is a little damp (moist but not fully dry), it absorbs products much better, allowing the active ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and even retinol, to have a better chance of penetrating your skin. Yes, much like a sponge.

Instead, this is the right way to dry off your face:

  1. After cleansing, shake off the excess water on your hands.
  2. Gently wrap your hands around your cheeks and swipe off the water droplets.
  3. Brush the water on your forehead in an outward motion.
  4. Pat in any excess water until there’s no more water dripping down your face.

And with that, you’ll have the perfect canvas to apply your serums and moisturisers!
