Hydrating combination skin can be tricky in the summer. Read our verdict after trying Laneige’s new range of Water Bank products.

Summer is always a tricky time when it comes to choosing skincare. What works wonders in cold and moderate climates might be too heavy and greasy for hot and humid weather.

The solution? Switch to light textured products that can keep your skin hydrated and supple without that sticky feeling.

We have recently tried the new and improved range of Laneige Water Bank – which claims to hydrate the skin up to 8 times more than a regular moisturizer.

For dry skin, that’s like a holy grail – but what about those of us with combination skin?

Firstly it’s very important to know which of the range’s products to use. In my case, I went for the Water Bank Essence, Water Bank Gel Cream and the Double Gel Soothing Mask. Here’s the verdict:

Laneige Water Bank Essence and Gel Cream:

Lightweight and pleasantly scented, this was my first encounter with Laneige’s best seller Water Bank products. I used them only in the mornings (as I use more intensive anti-ageing skincare in the evenings) since I needed that extra hydration during the day.

I loved how the essence was fast absorbed by my skin and seemed to cool my face which is perfect to give a fresh sensation before stepping out in the heat. The Cream Gel had a great non-sticky texture and I could see and feel my skin more supple without getting any greasy residue. As someone with combinations skin, I usually find it difficult to find creams to provide hydration on the dry areas while also being suitable for the oily T-zone. Laneige’s Water Bank duo did a good job in balancing that, thanks to its soft non-creamy texture which left my skin moisturised and feeling fresh.

Laneige Double Gel Soothing Mask:

I’m not usually a big fan of sheet masks and prefer the good old tub where I can control what and how much to apply on my skin. However, the Double Gel Soothing Mask from Laneige is something else.

Gel-based, this mask comes in two pieces for the top and bottom of the face and sticks on the whole time of application. After leaving it on for 20-30min, the mask turned thinner proving that all the packed goodness has been absorbed by my skin.

My face felt far more moisturised and had a great smooth texture to it instantly – which makes this mask a great on-the-go solution after a day at the beach or in the sun.
