Local Talent: Spotlight on the charming singer-songwriter JJ Lin

updated the Sunday, July 10, 2016

Yes, he broke a Guinness World Record in 2007 by signing 3,052 CDs in two and a half hours.

For those of you who have never heard the name JJ Lin, it would be our utmost pleasure introducing this heartwarming Singaporean singer-songwriter to you. The unusually modest musician recently made headlines after being photographed sitting all by his lonesome at the QQ Music Awards, reason being that he wanted to watch every performance even after the other artistes had left the show. His unyielding support for fellow stage performers gives us all the more reason to love and respect Lin.

Based in Taipei, Lin occasionally travels back to Singapore to visit friends and family – he was recently in town a few months back to celebrate is 35th birthday. We understand he’s a busy man, though, seeing as he’s got a whole slew of studio albums behind him (thirteen, to be exact), juggles his own fashion line SMUDGE, and has also been dabbling in acting and voice acting. Curiously, Lin is also Singapore’s tourist ambassador.

Lin has won a massive number of awards over the past decade, and has performed with the likes of American singer Sean Kingston, and Empress of J-Pop Ayumi Hamasaki. Most Singaporeans will be familiar with his work on the remixed version of Home, originally sung by none other than Kit Chan. We’re interested to see how else Lin will represent Singapore in future projects and endeavours!
