With collaborations getting bigger and better each year, here is a round up of 8 stand out collections that raised the bar for future pair ups.

Gone are the days when designers merely graced their eponymous labels with their creative direction as fashion collaborations between luxury labels, retail giants, sports brands and the likes are now more ubiquitous than ever – almost essential.

2014 saw a multitude of collaborations that sent the fashion world and social media into a hysterical frenzy once each collection dropped and crashing sites and setting up camp in front of retail stores was practically a norm this year for ardent fans. Granted, as designer duets more often than not entail a unique merger of creative minds that never fail to produce smashing collections which fly off shelves once it hits the stores.

From collaborations riding on the sports luxe wave that everybody is obsessed with, to those formed in the name of anniversaries, 2014 was certainly the year of collaborations by virtue of these 8 stand-out collections.
