Caribbean Cuisine: Lime House
Lime House is named after the Caribbean term “liming” which means to hang out with friends, and true to its name, it is a laid-back establishment where you can enjoy delicious Caribbean cuisine with friends and family! Set in a traditional shophouse in the middle of China, Lime House offers traditional Caribbean cuisine such as jerk chicken, Caribbean toast, baby back ribs, and spicy shrimp. The establishment also recently launched Bago, a bar on its second floor, where guests can drink fruity cocktails and choose from over 150 rums from the Caribbean and South America.

Nepalese Cuisine: New Everest Kitchen

Opened in 2006, Everest Kitchen offers North Indian, Nepalese, and Tibetan food at very reasonable prices. Although this restaurant is a bit “hole in the wall”, it has recently gained popularity for its affordability and quality of dishes. A must-have is the Nepalese version of dim sum potstickers, called the momo!

Greek Cuisine: Blu Kouzina
Located on Dempsey Hill, be prepared to be whisked off to a Mediterranean paradise the moment you step into this restaurant! Specializing in traditional Greek cuisine, Blu Kouzina’s menu features dishes such as Spanakopita, Moussaka, and Tzatziki--all made with organic virgin olive oil from the Tsakiris Family Olive Grove Estate in Messinia, Greece. The interior of this restaurant is also quite something--the rich blue and whites, as well as the Mycenaean lions that flank the restaurant really amp up the exotic vibe of the restaurant! Argentinian Cuisine: boCHINche
“Don’t Cry For Meat Argentina”, or at least that’s what the decor says! Located in the heart of the CBD, offers traditional Argentinian cuisine such as empanadas, Pulpo grilled octopus, pork belly, and tres leches traditional milk cake. There are four cuts of Argentinian grass-fed beef offered on the menu: ribeye, beef fillet, sirloin, and the skirt cut. Apart from being a restaurant, boCHINche also doubles as a gourmet market with products specially curated by Jacquet, the Chef Patron.

Persian Cuisine: Shabestan
Shabestan means a place of rest for weary travellers, and this restaurant certainly lives up to its name! Located along Robertson Quay, Shabestan offers exotic Persian dishes such as Muhamara, various types of kebabs, and lamb dishes. Most of Shabestan’s dishes are also marinated with spices such as saffron, which are directly imported from the Middle East. Don’t forget to try out their breads as well, which are freshly baked in a clay oven within the restaurant!

Spanish Offal Dining: Dehesa
Dehesa, meaning “grasslands” in Spanish, is one of the very few restaurants in Singapore that offers the “nose to tail” (of the pig, if you didn’t know) dining experience. Located on North Canal road, Dehesa allows you to dig into parts that you can never get at the grocery store, including bone marrow, the ears, and jowl. They also offer meats and seafood other than pork, including duck heart, octopus, and “La la” clams. Dehesa is the brainchild of Chef-Owner Jean-Philippe Patruno (affectionately known as JP), who was inspired to create this restaurant from his own fascination with offal dining.

Russian Cuisine: Shashlik

One of Singapore’s oldest eateries, Shashlik is a Russo-Hainanese restaurant that offers traditional Russian cuisine such as borsch, beef stroganoff, caviar, oxtail stew, and of course, shashlik skewered meat itself. Shashlik Restaurant is located at Far East Shopping Centre, and is still going strong today after a brief hiatus in 2015!
