What kind of women are prone to love at first sight?

Yes, most women believe in prince charming and in true love, but some of them believe more strongly than others. We analyse the reasons why some are just more likely to fall in love at first sight.

We immediately think of the idealistic girl, crazy about sentimental movies, of the eternal complaining love seeker. We know some fairytale love believers who are, almost always disappointed with what reality brings. They have expectations that are too high and do not bear the slightest setback. Sometimes, the love or ‘crush’ they develop is not even mutual. Others, who are more mature, more sensible, give up to the temptation of a crush: it comes to shake-up their daily life and spice it up.

According to the psychoanalyst Juliette Allais, “love at first sight can happen to everybody, whether it is the romantic girl or the control freak who will fall in love all the more as it escapes her totally”. Nevertheless, it can also run in the family, as if it is something that could be passed from mother to daughter like Granny’s jewellery. “It is sometimes a family specificity, our parents will have maintained the myth of THE first meeting, the perfect love, and this is what love at first sight suggests,” states the psycho-genealogist.

We soak in a fairy tale universe, with corny coincidences (the symbolism of dates: he was born on May 18th, she on August 18th; it could be a sign of fate). For the psychiatrist Philippe Brenot, there is no doubt, that we are taken by Cinderella’s ‘myth’ who waited for her prince and fell in love immediately: “Love brings us to a magical thought level. Suddenly, we are no longer the masters of our fate, but a character of an already written scenario.” There is magic in the air or, at least, we want to believe in it. As if we were 20-years-old again, we get back our XXL sex appeal, our impudence, and we make unbelievable projects. Which woman doesn’t want such a booster?
