Edmonton, Alberta
You'll definitely find many maple-smothered dishes here - but that's not all. Edmonton's hugely diverse restaurant scene is largely due to the lack of many homegrown Canadian dishes. Instead, Asian, Italian, Spanish, Indian eateries line the streets here. There is a bit of everything to choose from here, and they're all scrumptious to the tastebuds.

Detroit, USA
Detroit and food don't normally sound like a dream team, but think again. The Detroit restaurant scene is booming with delicious sloppy, excessive and yet irresistible truly American dishes. Burgers, hot dogs, big sandwiches, and cheese - so much cheese. Are you salivating already?

Tacos, of course. But also expect many other street foods such as, tamales, quesadillas, gorditas, tlacoyos, mole and pambazos, to name a few. All these flavourful dishes can be enjoyed as street food or in their restaurants.

Palermo, Italy
Forget about Roma; Palermo's eating scene is a foodie's dream, and a carb haters' worst nightmare. Expect cute and quaint restaurants serving delicious pasta, as well as street food around the markets with thick and filling pizzas known as sfincione as well as cannoli and cazzilli's.

Bristol is becoming increasingly recognised for its cool and buzzy F&B scene. Expect many quirky cafes and fabulous restaurants serving up lobster, steak, and all the good things in life.

Vigo, Spain
Forget about San Sebastian - well, okay don't, but definitely add Vigo to your list of delicious Spanish cities. Expect great tapas, everywhere, all the time.

Santiago, Chile
There's so much to choose from in Chile's local street food scene. It is certainly booming, with a range of pastry treats and spicy dishes. Look out for their classic empanadillas and pastel de choco (pictured), as well as sopaipilla, preietas and curanto, just to name a few.

Malmö, Sweden
There's definitely more to Malmö than meatballs, but it's a great place to start. Sorry Ikea, but these are the ones that set the bar. There is no way to describe malmö's food scene other than that there are so many good restaurants. Hit up the well-known restaurants like Namo or Skane for some authentic Swedish dishes!

Budapest, Hungary
Increasingly cool is the Budapest food scene. Karaván is a super hip and tasty place to feast on street food with local twists. Also check out some of their "ruin pubs," which are eating houses and bars housed in derelict old buildings. So hip, so tasty.

Who would have guessed this one? Dakar has a huge range of food to choose from, from an abundance of quality fish markets serving up fresh critters to awesome street food. Check out the stalls in Medina for some accara or dibi, two of many local delights.

Okay... what? But seriously though, Armenian barbecues are unbelievably good. Aside from that, also check out Charlez Aznavour Square for an array of restaurant classic Armenian dishes like Khinkali, and other meat treats. Move on to one of their many cute cafes for after-food drinks!

Aside from all the delicious Brazilian street food (i.e tapioca pancakes, pastel de quiejo, feijoada), Sao Paulo is buzzing with a multi-cultural restaurant scene.
