Advice of Laurence Dujardin, feng shui specialist:

What to do if the love zone of the room is cluttered?
Laurence Dujardin: Since feng shui is primarily a tool of awareness, you can begin by asking yourself some questions. If you have a big wardrobe, a cupboard or a screen in the love zone, what does it say about your love life? Nothing is trivial, as we project what we feel internally into our external world. A cluttered love zone evokes discomfort, and an inhibition of energy flow between the couple. What should we do? First, if we can, clear this space. If the cabinet is an antique piece that we simply cannot throw out, or an installed wardrobe attached to the walls however, we can compensate by instead stimulating love in the living area or dining room, always in the right corner of the wall opposite the door.

And if there is a bathroom or toilet in the love zone of the room…?

In feng shui, the bathroom and toilet are considered weak links. Symbolically, these are two places where the energy in the house is drained. To mitigate the problem, keep their doors and toilet lid closed at all times. And to reflect energy back outside, it is advisable to hang a mirror on the inside of the bathroom, in front of the door. In this case, it is necessary to boost the love zone, and of the other parts of the house as well.

What should we do to the love zone in order to increase levels of affection and desire amongst couples?

Before anything else, remember to proceed slowly and in small steps – providing a boost to the love zone accelerates events, and not necessarily in the desired direction. This can sometimes lead to separation and each person falling in love with someone else instead! To inspire romance, it is best to opt for soft colours (pink and peach), light fabrics, curtains, softness, roundness, materials such as wood (not too much metal in one room). To boost libido, go for darker colours including red, and play on decor. If you like this style, opt for more animal prints, such as a leopard bedspread, for example. Think along the lines of aphrodisiac essential oils as well.
