With its distinctive monochrome palette, one of Singapore’s favourite brand, Depression served up a mean plate of good versus evil designs.

The Singapore-based brand Depression took to the spotlight on Day 3 of Digital Fashion Week 2014. The designers were fascinated by medical themes and clinical aesthetics and similarly, they named their brand ‘Depression’ as a reminder of the power to change when feelings of unhappiness arise.

At the beginning of the show, when the music started playing, you could feel a mysterious atmosphere surround the room, which only served to heighten the audience’s excitement.

The designers, Andrew Loh and Kenny Lim crafted a collection of dark sentiments coupled with simple and significant detailing. In the collection, some of the pieces had Chinese words that basically translated to, ‘The devil inside’, written on it. The phrase could be understood as there exists a good and evil side in every human being or it could be seen as a mental defect.

The use of unconventional silhouettes –  asymmetrical and oversized cuts – and a distinctive black and white colour palette, made for quite a remarkable show that stayed true to the brand’s irrefutable design aesthetics.
