Hosting a ladies’ night in and not sure what to serve? Or in a hurry and looking for a delicious snack? Pacific Marketplace’s SuperMuffins are here to the rescue!

Hosting a ladies’ night in seems such a great idea. That is until we start thinking on how to plan it the best way possible. While opening a bottle of wine or two and getting the Sex and the City DVDs ready are fairly easy – the question on what to serve in terms of food and snacks is always tricky.

Greasy pizzas are a no-no for health conscious ladies like us – but so are sushi and salads as we risk leaving our guests left feeling grounded when should be celebrating.

Luckily, Pacific Marketplace at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Singapore has come up with SuperMuffins – the equivalent of superheroes when it comes to snacks.

Available in 5 flavours and fillings, these affordable, tasty and filling savoury muffins are perfect for entertaining hungry guests – especially the picky ladies – or grabbing on the go during busy work days.

What are SuperMuffins?

Think of them as a giant muffins, with savoury batter that is handcrafted with gruyere cheese adding a nice savoury touch which complements each of the 5 flavours available.

From the traditional Chicken Run (Stir Fried Chicken) to the Indian-inspired Krrish (fiery curried potatoes), Minotaur (classic French-style braised Oxtail), The Hulk (Mushroom, Cheese and Cream encased in a savoury Spinach crust) and Ms Piggy (sweet Classic Chinese Barbecued Pork with piquant Salted Egg Yolk) – there is definitely a SuperMuffin for everyone.

The portions:

One SuperMuffin is good on the go while 2 would be ideal as a medium-sized meal. For parties, we suggest you get a selection and cut each muffin into 4 portions assorting them into platters so each guest can enjoy all flavours.

our verdict

While the sound of a SuperMuffin might hint on something gluttonous and heavy, we were surprised to find that although indulgent, the muffins were pleasantly light and most importantly not too salty! Generously-filled and extremely tasteful, we found ourselves eating more than intended (not a bad thing, trust us).

As for the flavours, seasoning was just right in all varieties and we especially loved The Hulk and Monotaur  which just melted in our mouths and surprisingly didn’t feel as heavy as they sounded.

For a night in, it is recommended that you pair the SuperMuffins with wine. Not a wine connoisseur? Not to worry as we have picked a few wine pairings to complement each flavour to perfection:

Shinas Estate’s “Sweet Justice” Moscato is a wine that is characterised by the sweet fruity notes of apricots and cantaloupe, enhancing the flavours of the meat fillings in Minotaur (Braised Oxtail) and Ms Piggy (Char Siew).

– Predator Zinfandel highlights the intense earthy flavours of the mushrooms and cheese in the Hulk, and brings out the complexity of spices in Krrish (curry potatoes).

 – GH Mumm Blanc de Blanc is a high quality Grand Cru wine that features floral and fruity notes with a smooth body. Considered the King of Wines, this champagne is a perfect companion of the varied flavours of the SuperMuffins.

So now that the menu is sorted – no more excuses for not hosting that fun night you’ve been promising your girlfriends!

SuperMuffins (S$5.35 – S$7.50 each) are available at Pacific Marketplace (at Pan Pacific Hotel, Singapore) for dine-in, takeaway and online orders.
