Digital Fashion Week 2014: Thai Designers Collective

Other than witnessing designers from Singapore, the week saw incredible talent from Thai designers – from Fri27Nov to Nagara to Fly Now.

Several Designers from Bangkok International Fashion Week graced the stage of Digital Fashion Week Singapore bringing in innovative, modern and edgy designs, as well as traditional Thai clothing.

Known for their sheer talent, the Bangkok collective show highlights included Fri27Nov by designer Chanachai Jareeyatha, who has been a veteran of the Thai fashion scene. Jareeyatha is known for his hand crafted details and innovative prints that arise with every new collection. This lineup did not disappoint with its rich and regal baroque-inspired vests and dresses. The new departure was the boxy silhouettes in shades of teal and navy, embellished with intricate details in gold.

Nagara

When it comes to Thai Silk and a traditional style, leave it to Nagara to beautifully merge these themes into a modern and wearable collection.

Known for his signature style of redefining Thai silk with unique tie-die techniques, hand- painting and embroidery, Nagara presented a collection of mix and matched prints and silhouettes, paying tribute to traditional clothing that will surely bring you back to the golden days of Siam.

Fly Now

If glamour is what you’re looking for then look no further. What started as a ladies’ wear collection in 1983 by founder Somchai Songwattana with support from Chamnan Pakdeesuk, Fly Now was really flying high in this show. Infusing glamorous sequined classic beaded dresses into strong body hugging silhouettes with long sleeves and deep v-shaped necklines is what made his designs a standout.
